My name is Jana, I am 38 years old, and I have a daughter, Adélka. Life has put us through several very difficult trials.
In September, I underwent gallbladder surgery. Unfortunately, complications arose and I remained under anesthesia for an extended period. A week later, I suffered a pulmonary embolism and a pulmonary infarction.
The hardest moments, however, came in December, when my husband and Adélka’s father passed away.
Will you help us find the strength to start again, even though it is very difficult?
My husband, Zdeněk, was always willing to help others. Years ago, he worked for SŽDC, served as a volunteer firefighter, and also organized camps for children. This year, we would have celebrated 15 wonderful years together.
Adélka was everything to her dad. He never missed an opportunity to laugh with her and always tried to help. He was also very happy about his granddaughter, who was born in June. We had planned to renovate our home next year.
On December 3rd, we bought a Christmas tree and were looking forward to decorating it together with Adélka. We also bought new ornaments.
On December 5th, however, my husband suddenly became ill and we had to call an ambulance. His condition was very serious, and he had to be transported by helicopter. At the hospital, we were told that his condition was critical. He was placed into an induced coma and connected to a ventilator. We visited him every day, but we never heard his voice again.
A week later, on Friday, we were told that he had only a few hours left. Still, we kept hoping he would recover. On Saturday morning, we were able to see him briefly, but at 10:45 a.m., he passed away.
The hardest part was telling his mother (89 years old), who has already lost her husband and her son, and also telling our daughter Adélka (11 years old).
My husband truly loved Christmas. Sadly, he never lived to see his last one.
Adélka’s birthday is on February 16th, and it will be very sad for her. Her dad and I always prepared a wonderful celebration. Now, it will never be the same.
