Introduction
Maple is our beloved cat and a member of our family. Until recently, he was a curious, affectionate, calm companion who spent every day with us at home. Then came the diagnosis of FIP – a very serious and life-threatening disease that turned our lives upside down.
We started treatment immediately and hoped that his condition would gradually begin to improve. Instead, further complications appeared. Maple started having breathing difficulties and coughing, and his condition worsened so much that he had to be hospitalized and placed on oxygen support. It also turned out that in addition to FIP itself, he is fighting complications affecting his lungs and heart.
We are starting this fundraiser so that we can provide Maple with the care he needs without interruption and so that finances do not become an obstacle at a moment when his health and chance of recovery are at stake.
If you decide to help Maple, we will be grateful from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you to everyone who donates or shares our fundraiser.
Who are we helping?
Maple is our cat, and to us he is much more than just a pet. He is part of our home, our daily routines, and the simple joy of being together at home. That is why it is so difficult to watch what he is going through now.
His condition now requires not only continued FIP treatment, but also additional medication, regular check-ups, blood tests, specialized examinations, and intensive veterinary care. Our everyday life now revolves around medication, monitoring his condition, follow-up visits, and decisions about the next steps of treatment.
Even so, we believe it is worth continuing to fight and giving him the best possible chance to come back home and be the calm and beloved companion we know.
What specifically will the money from this fundraiser be used for?
The funds raised will be used exclusively for Maple's veterinary care, especially for hospitalization and oxygen support, examinations, follow-up visits, blood tests and other diagnostics, FIP treatment and related medication, antibiotics, heart medication, medication for the lungs and breathing, and follow-up care after hospitalization.
So far, the most expensive part of the treatment is the FIP medication itself (GS), which is dosed according to the cat's weight and given for approximately three months. Maple currently weighs 4.7 kg, so this part of the treatment alone comes to about 110,000 CZK.
But in addition to that, there have already been further major costs directly connected to the treatment. Maple had to be hospitalized, needed oxygen support, repeated blood tests, specialized examinations, heart medication, antibiotics, medication for the lungs, and other acute veterinary care. That is why the target amount of the fundraiser is higher – it does not cover only the FIP medication itself, but also the care and complications that have already occurred during the treatment.
If less than the target amount is raised, we will use the money for the most essential part of Maple's treatment and veterinary care, depending on what is most needed at that moment. If, on the other hand, we manage to raise more than is needed for the acute phase of treatment, we will use the money for continued treatment, additional check-ups, and Maple's recovery.
