Pomohli jste hasiči Vlastíkovi s onemocněním ALS

Vlastík bydlí se svou rodinou v Janovicích u Nového Jičína, se svou ženou mají čtyři děti. Jeho žena pracovala jako pečovatelka v terénu, nyní však musí věnovat svůj čas péči o svého manžela. Vlastík se ve svém životě vydal cestou profesionálního hasiče a Územní odbor Nový Jičín se stal v jeho kariéře jeho domovinou.  Působil zde na pobočné stanici Bílovec a centrální hasičské stanici v Novém Jičíně. Právě zde, po necelých dvaceti dvou letech a bezmála dvou tisících výjezdech, při nichž, jak všichni slibujeme, s nasazením vlastního života, pomáhal druhým, ukončil svou kariéru. Úctyhodná čísla, která vypovídají o jeho pevném a výjimečném charakteru. V Novém Jičíně se stal technikem chemické služby, tuto pozici vykonával s nadšením a rozšiřoval tak své hasičské obzory a zkušenosti. Práce hasiče na profesionální úrovni nebyla jediným Vlastíkovým zájmem, aktivně působil také u sboru dobrovolných hasičů.

Tato sbírka je iniciativou výjimečného a trochu zvláštního hasičského bratrství, které mezi námi Vlastík má a které mezi sebou mohou vytvořit pouze hasiči. Jak se říká: ,,Jednou hasičem, navždy hasičem.‘‘

Vlastík lives with his family in Janovice village near Nový Jičín. He and his wife have four children. His wife worked as a field caregiver, but now she has to dedicate her time to taking care of her husband. Vlastík chose the path of a professional firefighter, and the Nový Jičín District Headquarters became his professional home. He served at the Bílovec substation and the central fire station in Nový Jičín. It was here, after almost 22 years of service and nearly 2,000 emergency responses where he ended his career and as all firefighters pledge, risked his own life to help others. These impressive numbers reflect his strong and exceptional character. In Nový Jičín, he became a chemical service technician, a position he carried out with enthusiasm, further broadening his firefighting horizons and experience. Being a professional firefighter wasn’t Vlastík’s only passion; he was also actively involved with the volunteer fire brigade.

This fundraising campaign is an initiative born out of the exceptional and unique brotherhood among firefighters, which Vlastík has always been a part of—a bond that only firefighters can create. As the saying goes: “Once a firefighter, always a firefighter.”

Vlastíkovi diagnostikovali ALS v roce 2022. Jedná se o nemoc, která oslabuje svalstvo celého těla, nikoliv však mozek. Dalo by se říct, že pacienta uvězní ve vlastním těle. Ve Vlastíkově případě se nemoc začala projevovat slábnutím pravé ruky, to ho vedlo k nástupu na dlouhodobou nemocenskou a následně k ukončení služebního poměru. Postupem času začala nemoc postihovat levou ruku a přenesla se do obou dolních končetin a prstů. To už mu bohužel brání v soběstačném životě. Slábnutí rukou zapříčinilo, že není schopen k chůzi bezpečně užívat berle. Běžné činnosti, jako je pití nebo schopnost se samostatně najíst, činí Vlastíkovi problémy. Bohužel, u tak závažné nemoci je často ze značné části narušeno i psychické zdraví pacientů. ALS má obvykle prognózu 2–5 let.

Vlasťa není člověkem, který by druhé prosil o pomoc a stěžoval si na svůj stav. Je spíše zdrženlivým a nenápadným chlapíkem, který bere život takový, jaký je.

Vlastík was diagnosed with ALS in 2022. This disease progressively weakens the muscles throughout the body, though it spares the brain. One could say it imprisons the patient within their own body. In Vlastík’s case, the disease first manifested as weakness in his right hand, leading to long-term sick leave and, ultimately, the termination of his service. Over time, the disease began to affect his left hand as well, spreading to both legs and fingers. This now prevents him from living independently. The weakening of his hands has made it unsafe for him to walk with crutches, and everyday tasks such as drinking or feeding himself have become a challenge. Unfortunately, with a disease as severe as ALS, the mental health of patients often suffers greatly. ALS typically carries a prognosis of 2–5 years.

Vlastík is not the type of person to ask others for help or complain about his condition. He is a reserved and unassuming man who takes life as it comes.

What Will the Funds Be Used For?

The funds raised will help ease the burdens that Vlastík’s illness brings—and unfortunately, these will continue to grow. They will be used to cover the costs of rehabilitation, assistive devices, and transportation aids as recommended by his doctors, as well as hygiene products and home modifications for accessibility. One significant expense for the family will undoubtedly be the purchase of a specially adapted vehicle, which will become an absolute necessity. All these measures and further steps are being coordinated with the ALSA organization. ALSA provides Vlastík with guidance and advice on how to make his battle with the disease as manageable as possible. Due to the severity and wide-ranging impact of ALS, it is almost impossible to specify every area the funds might be used for.

If the fundraising goal is not met, the money will be used to cover the most critical needs, based on the amount collected.

Conversely, if more funds are raised than anticipated, they will be used to cover household expenses, fuel costs, or the purchase of additional equipment tailored to Vlastík’s current health condition.

Peníze, které vybereme, pomohou Vlastíkovi zmírnit strasti, které mu nemoc způsobuje a kterých bude bohužel přibývat. Budou z nich hrazeny rehabilitační, kompenzační a transportní pomůcky, dle doporučení lékaře, hygienické prostředky a nebo bezbariérové zařízení domu. Velkým výdajem bude jistě pro rodinu koupě nového speciálně upraveného vozidla, které pro ně bude zcela nezbytné. Tyto prostředky a veškeré další kroky jsou konzultovány s organizací ALSA. Tato organizace Vlasťovi poskytuje rady a tipy, na co se zaměřit, aby pro něj byla nemoc co nejvíce bezbolestná. Závažnost a množství oblastí, které ALS postihuje, jsou natolik rozsáhlé, že konkrétně jmenovat v podstatě nelze.

V případě, že se nepodaří vybrat dostatek financí, budou pokryty nejdůležitější prostředky v závislosti na velikosti vybrané částky.

V opačném případě, kdyby se vybralo finančních prostředků více, budou využity na pokrytí nákladů domácnosti, PHM a nebo k nákupu dalších pomůcek vzhledem k aktuálnímu zdravotnímu stavu Vlastíka.
