TRAILER VIMEO
„I don't understand those girls at all, they're just always laughing.“
Phobos and Deimos are two sisters who fell to planet Earth directly from Mars. Together, they try to understand our earthly world, discovering both its beauties and its sorrows; everything that relates to our world. They are like children seeing everything for the first time. They touch the sand, feel the temperature of the water, discover joy, and watch with amazement as people sometimes forget to take care of the world around them.
But they are very lucky, because a little human girl helps them explore this unknown world. They don’t speak the same language, but they are united through laughter.
The film reminds us that sometimes all it takes is a change of perspective for us humans to start seeing things differently — with tenderness and care. These strange sisters from a distant planet show us that our planet is unique, and that beauty can be found even where nothing glitters like gold. It’s also a story about hope and the small steps that can lead to great change. Adults, lost in their gloomy world, forget that happiness and joy aren’t about grand gestures, but about the little things that only require a pinch of childlikeness, or childishness, or maybe even a touch of childlike foolishness!
And that’s exactly why this film isn’t just science fiction; it’s a call to value the things we have around us; it’s an inspiration to preserve them; it’s about building a home out of stones and castles out of sand on the beach.
When I started writing the story Girls from Mars, I wanted to talk about how we should help each other more, how sometimes all it takes is to change our perspective and see beauty in the little things. But I had no idea that exactly what I was writing about would start happening in real life during the filming itself. The idea turned upside down — instead of just telling a story about kindness, I began experiencing it myself, thanks to the people who naturally gathered around the film. A beautiful community was born, full of people who believe in the power of collaboration, sharing, and support. And that gives me tremendous strength to create.
As a visual artist, this will be my first bigger film project. The whole team is made up of wonderful people who have thrown themselves into it with enthusiasm, even though for many of us it's our first experience of this kind. Among us are talented people creating costumes, music, sound, cinematography, production — but most importantly, people who are eager to create something together, to learn, and to grow.
And that’s why we are so excited about this film — because in many ways, we are living the very story we are telling!
We are discovering the beauty of being together, helping one another, and creating with love and joy. And that’s why we believe Girls from Mars will be a film that touches your heart, brings joy, and reminds you how little it takes to be happy!
Filming this movie right by the sea, where the whole story of these two sisters begins, is my dream — and to make it happen, you can help us and give the sisters a better landing on planet Earth, while showing other viewers that beauty and kindness are all around us! You just need to see them with eyes that haven’t yet forgotten how to dream…
We will be filming in Slovenia, where our small team will travel by car, bringing all the equipment and costumes. In order to get there and have enough funds and time to complete this project, we would be incredibly grateful for any contribution to this fundraiser.
Thanks to your support, we’ll be able to rent better equipment, create costumes and props, cover travel expenses, pay our actresses, and afford a simple place to stay and some food for the whole team.
This short experimental film comes straight from the heart, and will have its own proper premiere — to which you will, of course, receive an invitation!
I am excited and hopeful that this story will remind all of us of what we already have, and bring smiles to our faces!
Thank you from our entire team — and from the girls from the fictional planet Marz!
