Romanovi Zavavínovi je 32 let. Narodil se v Záporoží na Ukrajině.
Před svou mobilizací byl amatérským fotografem, prodával fotografické materiály. Mobilizován byl 6. února 2023 k 415. samostatnému střeleckému praporu. Trénoval v Záporoží, Charkov a Mykolajiv. Poté byl poslán směrem k Bakhmutu. Romanova poslední pozice byla 1 kilometr od Andriivky a 8–10 kilometrů od Bakhmutu.
Roman Zavavin is 32 years old. He was born in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine.
Prior to his mobilization, he was an amateur photographer, selling photographic materials. He was mobilized on February 6, 2023, to the 415th separate rifle battalion. He was trained in the Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Mykolaiv regions. Then he was sent to the Bakhmut direction. Roman's last position was 1 kilometer from Andriivka and 8–10 kilometers from Bakhmut.

Dne 27. 07. 2023 při útoku u Romana vybuchl granát, který zasáhl levou ruku a levou nohu, ale dál střílel s tím, že nemá sílu na to nasadit škrtidlo. Pomalu krvácel a dal svou munici svým kamarádům. Pak si Roman uvědomil, že nemůže nijak pomoci, a tak se rozhodl přesunout do zadní pozice, 50 metrů od místa, kde byl zraněn. Dostal se tam sám, stále krvácel.
Už tam mu někdo dal škrtidlo na ruku a nohu, následně byl evakuován do víceméně bezpečné oblasti. Jeho soudruzi nesli Romana na nosítkách pod palbou téměř 2 km. Tato cesta trvala více než 5 hodin a teprve pak si uvědomil, že přijde o dvě končetiny.
Pak byla dlouhá cesta do nemocnic: Kostjantynivka, Družkivka, Dněpro, Kyjev, Lvov, Mukačevo, Berehove, Lvov a Velký Lubin.
On 27. 07. 2023, during an assault, a grenade exploded near Roman, hitting his left arm and left leg, but he continued to shoot back, saying that he did not have the strength to put a tourniquet on it. He slowly bled out and gave his ammunition to his comrades. Then Roman realized he could do nothing to help, so he decided to move to a position in the rear, 50 meters from where he was wounded. He got there on his own, still bleeding.
Already there, someone put a tourniquet on his arm and leg, and he was evacuated to a more or less safe area. His comrades carried Roman on a stretcher under fire for almost 2 km. This journey took more than 5 hours, and only then he realized that he would lose two limbs.
Then there was a long way to hospitals: Kostyantynivka, Druzhkivka, Dnipro, Kyiv, Lviv, Mukachevo, Berehove, Lviv, and Velykyi Lubin.
