Pomoc pro Kyru v boji s nádorovým onemocněním

Kyra je aktivní a přátelská pětiletá fenka německého ovčáka.

Před pár týdny se jí na krku udělaly boule, které jsme okamžitě začali řešit na veterině. První vyhlídky nebyly hezké, ale byla tu šance, že se jedná pouze o nějaký nepěkný zánět. Kyra statečně brala antibiotika, ale při další kontrole přišel šok. Bohužel se nejednalo o zánět, ale o lymfom. 

Byli jsme postaveni před rozhodnutí, zda zkusit chemoterapii, která může s trochou štěstí dát Kyře naději na ještě pár let házení míčků, nebo ji nechat posledních pár týdnů dožít na kortikoidech. Rozhodování bylo náročné, protože rozhodně nechceme, aby se Kyra trápila nebo stresovala, ale vzhledem k tomu, že má pořád mnoho chuti a energie do života a nevykazuje žádné negativní dopady nemoci, tak jsme se rozhodli pro chemoterapii. 

I přes to, že návštěvy veteriny rozhodně nejsou Kyry oblíbenou aktivitou, tak to zvládá jako hrdinka a bez větších problémů podstupuje odběry, kontroly i samotnou terapii.

Našim hlavním cílem je pokusit se porazit zákeřnou nemoc a dát Kyře možnost užívat si házení míčků a přehršel psích ňaminek ještě pár let.

Kyra is a friendly and active five-year-old German Shepherd.

A few weeks ago, we noticed several lumps on her neck and immediately took her to the veterinarian. The initial outlook wasn't encouraging, but there was still hope that it was only a severe infection. Kyra bravely went through a course of antibiotics, but at her follow-up appointment, we received devastating news. Sadly, it wasn't an infection—it was lymphoma.

We were faced with an incredibly difficult decision: either try chemotherapy, which, with some luck, could give Kyra the chance to enjoy a few more years of chasing balls, or let her spend her remaining weeks receiving palliative treatment with corticosteroids. It was a heartbreaking choice because the last thing we want is for Kyra to suffer or be under unnecessary stress. However, she still has so much joy, energy, and enthusiasm for life, and she isn't showing any signs that the disease is affecting her quality of life. Because of that, we decided to give chemotherapy a chance.

Although trips to the veterinary clinic are definitely not Kyra's favorite thing, she has been incredibly brave. She calmly goes through blood tests, check-ups, and her treatments with remarkable courage.

Our greatest hope is to give Kyra the best possible chance to fight this cruel disease and allow her to spend a few more happy years doing what she loves most—chasing balls and enjoying her favorite dog treats.

Kyra, nebo také Myška, jak jí doma často říkáme, je fenka německého ovčáka, která před pár dny (20. 7.) oslavila páté narozeniny.

Kyra miluje míčky, ňaminky, šlofíky, ježdění autem, procházky, lidi (především malé děti) a ostatní pejsky. Jakmile se děje něco na zahradě, tak u toho musí být a pomáhat.

Sází se stromky? Superhrabač je připraven. Seče se tráva? Myška bude asistovat, štěkat na sekačku a kontrolovat kvalitu pomocí válení se. Nejraději asistuje u zalévání zahrady, kdy poctivě kontroluje kvalitu zavlažování a my nevíme, jestli zaléváme květiny nebo Kyru.

Míčky je schopná nosit hodiny a nevzdává se, ani když už se dvounohému parťákovi nechce a má vykloubené rameno z neustálého házení. V tu chvíli je schopná vydávat kňučení, které by se hodilo spíše na nějakého krysaříčka, než na velkého trhače.

Jak je z textu asi jasné jedná se o dost aktivní mladou fenku a rodinnou parťačku.

Kyra—or „Myška“ („Little Mouse“), as we affectionately call her at home—is a German Shepherd who celebrated her fifth birthday just a few days ago, on July 20.

Kyra loves balls, tasty treats, naps, car rides, long walks, people (especially young children), and other dogs. Whenever something is happening in the garden, she absolutely has to be involved and „help.“ Planting trees? Our little digging expert is ready for the job. Mowing the lawn? Myška will happily supervise, bark at the lawn mower, and perform a thorough quality inspection by rolling around in the grass. Her favorite job, though, is helping with watering the garden. She takes her quality control duties very seriously, and by the end we're never quite sure whether we've been watering the flowers or Myška.

She can play fetch for hours and never wants to stop. Even when her two-legged partner is exhausted and feels like their arm is about to fall off from throwing the ball over and over again, Myška refuses to give up. Instead, she lets out the sweetest little whines—sounds you'd expect from a tiny little dog rather than a big, powerful German Shepherd.

As you've probably guessed by now, Kyra is a very active young dog and a beloved member of our family.

V tuto chvíli Kyry léčba vyšla již na několik desítek tisíc korun, ale bohužel stále nemáme vyhráno. Chemoterapie a následná rekonvalescence u takto velkého pejska bohužel vyjde na další desetitisíce, ne-li víceciferné částky. 

Vybrané peníze budou využity na pokrytí nákladů týkajících se léčby  (chemoterapie, léky a další vyšetření – ultrazvuky, odběry krve,…) a následnou péči o Kyru.

Pokud by se nepovedlo vybranou částku vyčerpat, bude dále využita na podporu dalších nemocných pejsků.

At this point, Kyra's treatment has already cost us tens of thousands of Czech crowns, but unfortunately, the fight is not over yet. Chemotherapy and the recovery period that follows for a dog of her size will unfortunately cost many more thousands of Czech crowns, if not even more.

The money raised will be used to help cover the costs of Kyra's treatment, including chemotherapy, medication, additional examinations such as ultrasounds and blood tests, as well as her ongoing care.

If we are fortunate enough not to need the full amount raised, any remaining funds will be donated to help other dogs in need.
