Introduction to the charity collection
Jiří is 41 years old. His life began with great challenges: he was born with a serious heart defect, transposition of the great arteries, and suffered a stroke at ten months old. He was also diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Nevertheless, he never stopped fighting. Thanks to his mother’s tireless and devoted care, he learned to walk, run, play, and experience childhood almost like other children.
As an adult, he became a loving husband and father of four children. He worked, cared for his children, taught them, played with them, and was their support. Everything he did, he did with love and determination, never giving up and always fighting to be with them and for them.
Today, Jiří’s health no longer allows him to do the things he used to be able to do. In order for him to function safely and with dignity at home, we need to raise funds for a stairlift that will allow him to safely navigate the stairs, and for bathroom modifications so that he can take a normal shower and care for his basic hygiene after a long time.
What specifically will the money from this charity collection be used for?
We will use the funds raised primarily to purchase a stairlift, which will enable Jiří to safely navigate stairs and get to doctors’ and rehabilitation appointments. Thanks to the stairlift, he will be able to spend time with his family, and his children will once again be able to enjoy walks with their dad. We will also invest the funds in renovating the bathroom so that Jiří can finally take a normal shower and use the toilet without pain or risk of injury, which will significantly improve his daily comfort and dignity.
If the amount raised is less than we hope, we will first secure a stairlift, as safe movement on the stairs is essential for Jiří. We will then use the remaining funds for the most important bathroom modifications and basic aids for independence.
If more than we need is raised, we will use the money for further barrier-free modifications and aids that will make Jiří’s daily life even more pleasant, such as support for moving around the apartment or other rehabilitation aids so that he can remain as independent and active as possible.
