About us and the cause
On April 4th, we (Adela and myself) will be running a half marathon organised by Garda42 around part of Lake Garda (Italy). For those of you who know us, you also know we are not runners (especially not me). We would really like to make this effort worthwhile and have been set on running this race as a fundraising run. We were choosing a cause just as the absolutely tragic and abhorrent invasion of Putin's army to Ukraine was carried out. Therefore, we feel that there is no cause more pressing that this one at the moment. We cannot begin to understand what the people of Ukraine are experiencing right now, however, as daughters and granddaughters of Czechs who have experienced similar aggressions (not only) from the USSR in the past, we have heard a lot about the fear, sadness and helplessness of such situations from people close to us. We are heartbroken for all Ukrainians and we hope at least such a small action can be of help.

4. dubna poběžíme (Adéla a já) půlmaraton, který pořádá Garda42 kolem části jezera Garda (Itálie). Pro ty z vás, kteří nás znají, také víte, že nejsme žádné běžkyně (zejména já ne). Rády bychom, aby naše úsilí stálo za to, a rozhodly jsme se, že tento závod poběžíme jako benefiční běh. Vybírali jsme kam penězi přispět právě ve chvíli, kdy byla provedena naprosto tragická a ohavná invaze Putinovy armády na Ukrajinu. Logicky máme pocit, že v tuto chvíli neexistuje nic důležitějšího než toto. Asi nemůžeme chápat, co obyvatelé Ukrajiny právě prožívají, ale jako dcery a vnučky Čechů a Češek, kteří v minulosti zažili podobnou agresi (nejen) ze strany SSSR, jsme o strachu, smutku a bezmoci takových situací nespočetněkrát od svých blízkých slyšely. Alespoň v myšlenkách jsem s obyvateli Ukrajiny, a doufáme, že jim i naším drobným příspěvkem trochu pomůžeme.

Chi siamo e la nostra causa
Il 4 aprile Adela ed io correremo una mezza maratona organizzata da Garda42 attorno ad una parte del Lago di Garda. Per quelli di voi che ci conoscono, sapete anche che non siamo proprie e vere corritrici (soprattutto non io). Per rendere utile lo sforzo, abbiamo deciso di correre questa gara come raccolta fondi. Stavamo scegliendo una causa proprio mentre veniva compiuta l'invasione assolutamente tragica e ripugnante dell'esercito di Putin in Ucraina. Pertanto, riteniamo che al momento non vi sia causa più urgente di questa. Non possiamo iniziare a capire cosa stia vivendo il popolo ucraino in questo momento, tuttavia, come figlie e nipoti di cechi che hanno subito in passato aggressioni simili (non solo) dall'URSS, siamo cresciute sentendo parlare della paura, della tristezza e impotenza di tali situazioni da parte di persone a noi vicine. Abbiamo il cuore spezzato per tutto il popolo ucraino e speriamo che almeno un'azione così piccola possa essere d'aiuto.
