Před nástupem do armády pracoval jako mistr na velké stavbě. Od začátku Covidu do 28. 12. 2021 byl v běžné službě. Poté se vrátil domů, aby si odpočinul.

Before joining the army, he worked as a foreman at a large construction site. From the beginning of the Covid until 28. 12. 2021, he was in regular service. Then he returned home to rest.

Poté, co začala invaze, se Oleksij rok dobrovolně přihlásil a pracoval na stavbě. V lednu 2023 se rozhodl vstoupit do armády. Nejprve byl přidělen k 199. výcvikovému středisku a později k 82. letecké útočné brigádě. Podle hodnosti byl Oleksij starší voják, který sloužil jako útočný střelec v praporu velení a řízení.
Dne 11. 11. 2023 vstoupil Oleksiyův oddíl na pozici a byl spatřen dronem. Chlapcům se podařilo skrývat a vyhýbat se 2 hodiny, ale dron upravil dělostřelectvo a minomety. 120mm mina zasáhla Oleksiye do nohy nad kolenem a přeťala tepnu.
Sám si aplikoval škrtidlo. Kvůli velké míře ostřelování ho jeho spolubojovníci nemohli odnést, takže se musel plazit sám. Říká, že jeho druhé koleno bylo vážně zjizvené, ale dostal se ven. Od chvíle, kdy byl zraněn, do doby, kdy bylo odstraněno škrtidlo, to trvalo více než 9 hodin. V důsledku toho mu byla amputována noha velmi vysoko nad kolenem.

After the full-scale invasion began, fo a year Oleksiy volunteered and worked on the construction site. In January 2023, he decided to join the army. At first, he was assigned to the 199th Training Centre and later to the 82nd Air Assault Brigade. By rank, Oleksiy was a senior soldier who served as an assault gunner in a command and control battalion.
On 11. 11. 2023, Oleksiy's squad entered the position and was spotted by a drone. The guys managed to hide and evade for 2 hours, but the drone adjusted the artillery and mortars. A 120mm mine hit Oleksiy in the leg above the knee, severing the artery.
He applied a tourniquet himself. Because of the density of the shelling, his comrades could not take him away, so he had to crawl on his own. He says his other knee was badly scarred, but he got out. It took more than 9 hours from when he was injured to when the tourniquet was removed. As a result, his leg was amputated very high above the knee.
