O čem je náš projekt? / What is the project about?
Místo dovolené balíme skalpely, vakcíny a kamery.
Jsme český tým veterinárních lékařů, veterinárních sestřiček a dokumentaristy. Společně vyrážíme do Tanzanie, abychom pomohli řešit přemnožení toulavých zvířat, šíření vztekliny a s tím spojené utrpení. Naši misi chceme zároveň kompletně zdokumentovat a ukázat, jak může odborná pomoc přímo v terénu měnit životy zvířat i lidí.
V odlehlých oblastech Tanzanie žijí tisíce toulavých psů a koček bez pravidelné veterinární péče. Potýkají se s nemocemi, podvýživou, zraněními a nekontrolovaným rozmnožováním. Zároveň představují významné riziko šíření vztekliny, smrtelného onemocnění, které v Africe stále připravuje o život především děti.
Nechceme jen přihlížet.
Ve spolupráci s organizací Meru Animal Welfare Organization (MAWO), v jejíž správní radě působíme jako veterinářka a dokumentarista, připravujeme intenzivní terénní kastrační a očkovací kampaň.
Do terénu vyrazí český tým veterinárních lékařů a veterinárních sestřiček, doplněný o profesionálního dokumentaristu. Všichni členové týmu se účastní zcela dobrovolně a bez nároku na honorář. Každý z nás projektu věnuje svůj čas, odborné znalosti a energii.
Naším cílem není pouze pomoci co největšímu počtu zvířat během jedné mise. Chceme zároveň zanechat na místě vybavení a zkušenosti, které bude moci MAWO využívat při své celoroční práci.
Proč to celé dokumentujeme?
Protože nechceme, aby naše mise skončila posledním ošetřeným zvířetem.
Chceme ukázat realitu terénní veterinární medicíny v Tanzanii, a to bez příkras, přímo z místa. Zachytit náročnou práci, každodenní realitu lidí, kteří o zvířata pečují, i příběhy zvířat, kterým společně můžeme dát druhou šanci.
Dokument zároveň představí princip One Health, přístup, který vnímá zdraví lidí, zvířat a životního prostředí jako vzájemně propojené. Prevence vztekliny a regulace populace toulavých zvířat proto není jen otázkou welfare zvířat. Je to také otázka veřejného zdraví.
Chceme českému i mezinárodnímu publiku ukázat, že odborná pomoc má smysl tehdy, když se dostane přímo tam, kde je jí nejvíce potřeba.

Instead of taking a vacation, we're packing scalpels, vaccines, and cameras.
We are a Czech team of veterinarians, veterinary nurses, and a filmmaker. Together, we are heading to Tanzania to help tackle stray animal overpopulation, prevent the spread of rabies, and reduce the suffering caused by a lack of veterinary care.
At the same time, we want to document the entire mission; bringing the reality of field veterinary medicine directly to audiences around the world.
In remote parts of Tanzania, thousands of stray dogs and cats live without access to regular veterinary care. Malnutrition, disease, injuries, uncontrolled breeding, and neglect are part of everyday life.
There is also another serious threat: rabies. It remains a deadly disease in Africa, with children among its most vulnerable victims.
We decided not to simply stand by.
Together with our Tanzanian partner, Meru Animal Welfare Organization (MAWO), whose board includes our veterinarian and documentary filmmaker, we are organizing an intensive field campaign focused on spaying and neutering, rabies vaccination, and essential veterinary care.
Our Czech volunteer team of veterinarians and veterinary nurses will work directly in the field, alongside a professional filmmaker.
Every member of our team is participating entirely voluntarily and without receiving any salary or professional fee. We are contributing our time, expertise, and energy because we believe this work matters.
Our goal is not simply to help as many animals as possible during one campaign. We also want to leave behind equipment and practical resources that MAWO can continue using throughout the year.
Why are we making a documentary?
Because we don't want the story to end when the last animal is treated.
We want to show what field veterinary medicine in Tanzania really looks like, directly from the field and without unnecessary filters. We want to capture the challenges, the people who dedicate their lives to helping animals, and the individual stories of animals who can be given a second chance.
The film will also introduce the One Health approach; the understanding that human health, animal health, and the environment are deeply interconnected.
Preventing rabies and responsibly managing stray animal populations is therefore not only an animal-welfare issue. It is also a matter of public health.
Through the documentary, we want to show international audiences that professional expertise can make a real difference when it reaches the places where it is needed most.
Na co použijeme vybrané prostředky? / How will your donation be used?
Vybrané finance využijeme na konkrétní náklady spojené s realizací mise a dokumentu:
- Nákup anestetik, chirurgického a šicího materiálu, léčiv, dezinfekce a vakcín proti vzteklině pro zvířata. Veškeré nespotřebované vybavení a nástroje po skončení mise zanecháme na místě, aby je MAWO mohl využívat při své další celoroční práci.
- Zajištění nezbytné dopravy týmu a zdravotnického materiálu v rámci Tanzanie a logistických nákladů spojených s prací v odlehlých oblastech.
- Pokud se podaří vybrat dostatek prostředků, rádi bychom z nich pokryli alespoň část nezbytných nákladů spojených s pobytem týmu v Tanzanii – zejména základní ubytování, místní dopravu, víza a další náklady spojené s terénní prací. Celá odborná práce týmu zůstává 100% dobrovolnická a bez nároku na honorář.
Dokumentární projekt
Naším hlavním cílem je zdokumentovat celou misi přímo v terénu. Podle výše vybraných prostředků bychom rádi pokryli také část nákladů spojených s natáčením a focením. Pokud se na dokumentární část projektu nepodaří získat dostatek prostředků, budeme se snažit tyto náklady zajistit z vlastních zdrojů.
Každou korunu navíc tak chceme využít k tomu, aby mise mohla být rozsáhlejší, aby se dostala k většímu počtu zvířat a aby její příběh mohl prostřednictvím dokumentárního projektu pokračovat i po našem návratu.

Funds raised will go toward direct operational costs of the veterinary mission and documentary production:
- Anesthetics, surgical and suture materials, medications, disinfectants, and rabies vaccines for hundreds of animals. Any unused medical supplies and instruments will remain in Tanzania so MAWO can continue using them in its year-round work.
- Essential transportation for the team and medical supplies within Tanzania, including logistics required to reach remote communities and carry out the campaign safely.
- If we are able to raise enough funds, we would like to cover at least part of the essential costs of having our volunteer team in Tanzania; particularly basic accommodation, local transportation, visas, and other expenses directly related to working in the field. The entire medical team is participating100% voluntarily and without receiving any salary or professional fee.
Documentary Production
Our goal is to document the entire mission directly in the field. Depending on the amount raised, we would also like to cover some of the costs associated with filming and photographing. If the campaign does not raise enough to cover these expenses, we will do our best to finance them from our own resources.
We want to use every additional contribution to make the mission more impactful; reaching more animals, extending our work in the field, and allowing the story of the mission to continue through the documentary project long after we return home.
