It promotes a playful, visually engaging, and user-friendly approach while minimizing the use of potentially unsafe kitchen tools.
The goal was to create recipes that are tasty, cost-effective, and straightforward, while avoiding cooking with heat, thus making it easier for young chefs and their parents to dive into the world of cooking.
What does it look like?
The cookbook is designed as 30 water-resistant, tear-resistant, recyclable, and environmentally friendly cards that can withstand the test of time, your children, and the sun.
The recipes are categorized into 6 groups, each containing 5 recipes. Each group is framed with a different color, and preparation time clearly indicated for each recipe.
Each recipe is designed to handle ingredient preparation without the need for cooking, followed by mixing. Ingredients are usually mashed or sliced using a kitchen knife, an egg slicer, or scissors. Some of the more advanced recipes may also include the use of a grater.
Why are there two language versions available?
The cookbook was created to bring joy to children all around the world, including Czech children, those from mixed families, expatriate children, and children living in or from abroad.
The first edition of the cookbook will be printed in both Czech and English languages in batches of a thousand copies each. This way, it can reach linguistically diverse families, English-speaking clubs, or kindergartens.
The age range is „tested“ on children and fully respects the individuality of each child.
A Bit of the Story…
During Christmas 2021, I was searching for a very simple cookbook in bookstores. It should be the very first cooking for children, an introduction to the cooking world. I saw some beautiful options, but nothing that quite matched the vision I had in mind. In the end, I told myself, "I'll create something on my own.“
And that's how the idea to create this cookbook was born.
I got in touch with my childhood friend, Kristýna Vlčková and asked her to create the illustrations, which I knew from the beginning would be a fundamental feature of the entire cookbook. The process of bringing it to perfection took us a year and a half.
In the meantime, I had to find a card manufacturer who would share my vision and select the material from which the cards would be made
As it happened, a Czech company with a long-standing tradition, Hrací karty, was chosen to manufacture the cards. They've always been adept at finding solutions for complex demands. Thanks to them, I discovered Yupo Paper and their Czech supplier, Europapier, who teamed up and generously offered me a discounted rate for the cookbook's first print.
Last but not least, there was HRG printing company, who were incredibly understanding and chose to support me by allowing me to use paper that wasn't supplied by them. I'm truly grateful to all of them.
What will the raised funds be used for?
The funds raised will be used to cover the expenses related to the creation, printing, and distribution of the cookbook. The total cost will involve 1000 copies in Czech and 1000 copies in English.
If we succeed in raising 100,000 CZK: The first 100,000 CZK will contribute to covering the initial costs associated with the cookbook's development, including the creation of illustrations, recipes, trial prints, and the expenses for recipe testing.
If we succeed in raising 250,000 CZK: With the additional 150,000 CZK, we will be able to cover the costs of highly durable Yupo paper, printing on this material, and acquiring a die-cutting iron for card production.
If we succeed in raising 400,000 CZK: The extra 150,000 CZK will enable each set of cards to have its packaging. A small box shaped like a matchbox – a sliding box. Furthermore, I will be able to wrap and send each book to you personally.
Any funds raised beyond the targeted amount will first be used to reimburse the costs already incurred from my personal savings. The remaining funds will be exclusively allocated to any expenses related to the cookbook and will contribute to bringing subsequent editions to life
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has chosen to support my personal project. I deeply appreciate your support!
