Aby toho nebylo málo, měl v práci úraz, a ten si vyžádal 2 měsíční rekonvalescenci.
Betinka had a tumor that involved 80% of the eye. She got diagnosed in January 2023 at the age of 18 months. She started the first block of chemotherapy at the Children's Hospital in Brno just a week after the diagnosis. The tumor responded to chemotherapy and was shrinking. This was followed by other blocks of chemotherapy both in Brno and a special administration of cytostatics, intra-arterial chemotherapy, which is carried out at University Hospital in Motol. The tumor did shrink, but slowly and not enough. Finally, the doctors tried injecting cytostatics directly into the eye, but even that was not enough. So the doctors had to remove Betnika's eye.
All the time that Betinka and her mother were in the hospital, her older brother was at home with their father. Every month, the father was at home with her brother for some time and could not go to work. They started to run out of money. In the summer, he had an accident at work, and it required 2 months of recovery.
Shortly after Betinka's operation, our family car also left us. We drove many kilometers on the Ostrava-Brno-Prague route and it took Betinka to all her chemotherapy and examinations.
Betinka still has to travel to Brno for check-ups and also for her eye prosthesis.
Betinka did have life insurance, but the insurance company does not want to pay the insurance proceeds. Likewise, her father was also insured, but the insurance company does not want to pay him anything either.
What exactly will the money from this collection be used for?
We will use the money from the fundraiser to buy a new reliable car that will take us where we need to go (doctors appointments, prosthetic appointments) and we won't have to worry about not making it.
